1. Disappearing Photos And Videos In DMs   

When disappearing photos or videos are sent through Direct Messages (DMs), Instagram informs the recipient whenever the recipient takes a screenshot. This is very similar to Snapchat, which has self-destructing messages.   

Suppose Instagram sees you screenshotting a disappearing photo or video in your private chat (and not a normal text or media message). In that case, it will put a small screenshot icon next to your username.

2. Vanish Mode in DMs  

In 2020, Instagram launched Vanish Mode, where messages disappear moments after you leave the chat. The person you send a Vanish Mode message to will be notified that you screenshot it.  

• Just swipe up on the Instagram DM to activate Vanish Mode.  
• Messages automatically delete themselves when you are out of the chat.  
• If you screenshot during Vanish Mode, the sender will receive a notification.

3. Instagram Posts and Notes?

So now, Instagram doesn’t notify you if you screenshot someone’s profile, posts, reels, or IGTV videos.

You can screenshot these in stealth mode and not alert the originating account. Define other ways of saving Instagram without using screenshots.

a. The Save Feature

The app also has a Save function, which allows users to save posts, reels, and IGTV footage for later viewing on Instagram.

• Android: Use a built-in screen recorder or 3rd-party software.  
• Note: This will NOT notify Instagram.  

c. Screen Recording through an External Device  

The second method is capturing screens or screenshots with another device. This technique does not leave fingerprints or screenshot records for Instagram to trace.  

4. Third-Party Applications  

Some third-party applications allow direct access to download Instagram content; use them cautiously, as such illegal applications are against Instagram’s terms and conditions.

However, there may be no notification that an individual has ever been featured in screenshots within stories. However, the issue of privacy turns out to be bitter for most individuals.

Some of the privacy principles include:  

a. Close Friends

You might have a few people who should not see your stories; in such cases, you can use the Close Friends feature, which allows you to post stories to a selected few but not everyone who follows you.  

b. Restrict or Block Users

If someone misuses your content, you can easily block or restrict them. Yes, the Restrict feature restricts that person’s interactions and engagement with your profile, while blocking keeps him or her away from your followers.  

c. Keep Your Account Private

Going private means only true and original followers can view your posts and stories. It’s probably one of the best methods of tracking who sees what you post.  

d. Do Not Share Private Content

Don’t share private materials, pictures, or videos that can be exploited. If needed, regarding privacy, share it in private groups or other private messaging systems.
