We’re joining the team! WhatsApp is the Official Messaging Partner of

@MercedesAMGF1 for 2024 and beyond 🤝.

This announcement from WhatsApp marks the platform’s entry into sports. WhatsApp pens a multi-year partnership with the Mercedes F1 team. As a sponsor, it will offer support to the team for the 2024 season and beyond.

The announcement came from WhatsApp on Friday,17th November 2023. Thanks to the deal, this Mercedes F1 team will now be able to post exclusive content on the platform. In this context, there will be a major focus on WhatsApp channels. WhatsApp launched the feature in July, and the Mercedes F1 team has already used this feature to establish its presence.

Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp, said,

We’ve been amazed at how the Mercedes team relies on WhatsApp to keep the organization running. I’m proud we’ll work together to reveal how WhatsApp brings their team together and fans closer to the action.

It’s great that the Mercedes F1 team started using this platform in September. Further, within two months time, it has been able to achieve a follower base of 656000 in the application.

It has all become possible because of the broadcast feature of WhatsApp channels. The Mercedes F1 team has been sharing the behind-the-scenes moments and experiences through WhatsApp channels. It also shares insights about the game, score updates, and exclusive information about George Russel and Lewis Hamilton.

The best thing about these posts, or rather the posts of WhatsApp channels, is that users can follow and comment on bit-sized and long-form content. However, there are no provisions for commenting on those posts. So, there are almost no chances for making toxic comments and arguments.

Team Principal and CEO of the Mercedes F1 team, Toto Wolff, finds WhatsApp a valuable communication platform. He said,

It brings the team closer together. It also helps accelerate the speed of communication and decision-making across the organization. Our sport is all data driven and I am getting screenshots in real time on what is happening in the car, temperatures, or over-limits. This is literally much bigger, faster and efficient than email or any other messaging service.
