Now, what do you call it? Comedy or errors? A few days after Sam Altman’s removal from OpenAI and confirmation of his joining Microsoft, he made a return to OpenAI. Strange it may sound, but he joins OpenAI again as the CEO. Along with Altman, co-founder Greg Brockman and many other staff also make a comeback to the company.

Further, OpenAI is to have a new board, and this change is being seen as the result of the “Will Quit” letter of more than 730 OpenAI employees. The board is going to have Bret Taylor in the chair. He has been the former co-CEO of Salesforce.

Names like Adam D’Angelo and Larry Summers will be gracing the roles of directors in the organization. Larry Summers has been the former U.S. Treasury Secretary. However, Adam D’Angelo was a part of the board that dismissed Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, the then CEO and co-founder of OpenAI.

There is no denying that the changes have been whimsical, and we cannot agree more with Danni Hewson, AJ Bell’s head of financial analysis. He said, “There are still huge questions about why Altman was fired and why Microsoft had been kept in the dark about the decision. What does seem clear is that Microsoft will now play a much bigger role, that the partnership will become stronger and the two companies more integrated.”

Kyle Rodda, analyst at Capital.com, also shared his opinion on the return of Sam Altman as the CEO of OpenAI. He said, “The return of Altman consolidates his influence over the direction of OpenAI, and probably means it will be more bold and profit focused, but also potentially less risk averse.”

Sam Altman’s removal from the role of the CEO created much ripple among the employees of OpenAI. Emmett Shear was declared as the interim CEO of the organization. He said that he worked very hard to restore stability in the organization and get Sam Altman as the CEO of the organization. He added, “This was the pathway that maximized safety alongside doing right by all stakeholders involved.”
